A press release should not be a mere recitation of facts. Effective press releases always employ quotes from someone significant to the company or event—a corporate executive or a representative from the charity benefiting from the event, for example. But quotes in press releases are seldom a verbatim rendition of what a personage actually.
In no more than 20 words, preview your press release’s contents and entice further reading. Add a subheading in italics if you need to further expand your headline. Avoid mentioning any names except for those of well-known individuals. For example, write “ABC Conference to Offer Sneak-Peek of Tomorrow’s Toys,” followed by the subhead “Actor T.H. Plans Play-full Keynote Address.
